New "ad bar" above my Yahoo! mail list can't be blocked

Yahoo! mail added a new annoying "ad bar" in the view mail tab, which, if you click on it, takes you to an advertising site. I tried to block it with AdBlock plus (and NoScript,) with no luck other than removing the little icon to the left of the advertising message. I have blocked ad.yieldmanager.com/* (sets a beacon in the script running in the background on the Yahoo! mail page,) and l2.yimg.com/av/moneyball/ads/* with no results. The blue bar with the ad will not go away. The intent of this ad is to get you to inadvertently click on it, because it looks similar to a message in your mailbox. Any suggestions how to get rid of this stubborn annoyance?

it sounds like adware / malware

can you post a picture of what you are seeing ?

scan also your pc using anti malware:

Mapx -- it's not malware/adware. I've got Malwarebytes installed on both my home and work computers, along with excellent anti-virus software and a firewall. I have 3 Yahoo! accounts, and only one of them has this new bar. The others don't have it (yet.)

I can't insert an image; the "Img" button doesn't do anything but insert some HTML.

I'll try to type in this box an example of what I'm seeing --

(Yahoo Mail screen -- this bar is at the top of ALL folders, including inbox, spam, and trash:)

Netflix Hemlock Grove - A Netflix Original TV Series (*** This is in blue and bold, unlike the rest of the mail list ***)
Sort by Date
Sender Name Mail subject here - description Date received/sent

if you are using firefox, you could submit an issue report (see my signature) and then post the report link here

you can also upload the image using a site like
http://imageshack.us/

and than use img tags to post it here

mapx --I updated the Easylist subscription and the /neo/ads/* is now included in the list. Unfortunately, the bar is STILL there. I have two copies of the underlying Javascript running on two different Yahoo! accounts. The first one is below:

<script>Neo.mix(NeoConfig.moneyball,{beacon:"",ad_headline:"",creative_id:"",ad_summary:"",ad_source:"",ad_img:"",click_url:"",landing_url:""});</script>

Note that "beacon" is set to NULL, as is ad_headline, creative_id, ad_summary, ad_source, and -- ad_img. (Which is the source of the "bar." Click_url is where you will be sent by clicking on the intrusive ad.

The second example is from a different Yahoo! account that has the annoying bar:

<script>Neo.mix(NeoConfig.moneyball,{beacon:"http://ad.yieldmanager.com/csc?ve=2&82qGmp12wp1TKXGwD8k1Qwy2X9ZVxk4w9gkx2gB.Ega0ynAYkGwYiGYm35QnH0ua7v17wQS8fzvJkncMKc9YlBAclXL5TdO5Qjnkl07WgBWLibG8OQRn23CHwl9bm.gG6NII9bo0zBQzU7zn6sHL9PViySi0MevHNjsZ0z_3n8rAjgIf2mzN9EQTcpMuW._6EBBK0bauiZtCyX3rE6dHyrlHVe.OSo3nym1Uqq4wDv46L30TAtHeLDUwCeB1G0eBQebjFpb7aLJdOMOqMsattl9LO95CUYzFFgO3rpj0tTrpn3.G5qtVrOV2OCPKoogXEsa32XmwhK6PlT_ygeWVBl5p8iHX2SPlAYDf71svm_DFuRU8U9JABjX7YOXNmr7rIoG5qAEkbdkwi3y7PYY7xBfhhFwcWiSbqmJeYgwwVzXcXeK7NOVFVuezcFfP8P6gi5D1G1ZDd3G9xhN9b_EdKSpm7uFnEcMp5_hAmmvGX90F41XzES4ZgSgFSCXH2YRMZ0deF6CZMLAgmBNT6DeLsZpxtfDg3l8oA8U7DdK1kSVlBCpXZWl3ZmYSdkTtoKW3KakdO2jnaN2xGZqTcl8852QlPNQr1SBas9B8vlItn85xnFSmnu2Y5T6XCPyV5J1K6SpSJf2.RQN_4qMC.exMiY9KGgdMP_0CtwgxHYi6.eIqlZe.X4wnT_y1kOFDE6JljCmK9R44TGiPT4gOUu4D0VFw4dZKQa5YLwHrVQhBcTej4YswRYp0r5DpEqBWAjuqAY40ooo9CqFLvNYEb1cf02fEzkT1VLWfxiCmfSVvY4bguix9CUqX&ap=$(AD_POSN)",ad_headline:"Hemlock Grove - A Netflix Original TV Series",creative_id:"22260418",ad_summary:"From director Eli Roth comes a chilling supernatural series based on Brian McGreevy&rsquo;s novel. Watch all episodes exclusively on Netflix. Only $7.99/mo.",ad_source:"Netflix",ad_img:"http://l7.yimg.com/av/moneyball/ads/0-1375937530-4439.jpg",click_url:"http://ad.yieldmanager.com/clk?3,eJyti9sKgkAURX.IxHFGnWHo4XiprA6UmNKjWYiTBUox6dd3xS9ovezNvhAi7RNjtl0IUZKCl8SThFlFWXiOax0MS0pJbUFcKhyLGBX17xBPVKLDoG3QhzeLvs0r-BFySKrgYzccTB2aJuvvsP22x5Xo4S8Eegnxz7-00xwVA57l1y4Cf5yFmcI0pjiP9Tr1FV6iG6azBntS43B-Z.V-2D1e-YAKKOrxOTWMJw-yUBE=,",landing_url:"http://movies.netflix.com/movie/Hemlock-Grove/70242310?locale=en-us&mqso=81003556"});</script>

Note that all the fields that were NULL in the first example now have values, including the ad headline of "Hemlock Grove ..."

This is what I am trying to block; unfortunately, it doesn't look like any blocking rules will help in AdBlock Plus. Nor will blocking an embedded script (using NoScript); the .yieldmanager.com domain is blocked by NoScript.

I have the same issue. If I right click on the ABP stop sign toggle icon and choose "Select a element to hide" this does eliminate the current ad - Only until I refresh the page. Then there is a new, different ad in its place.

I just removed the Yahoo "ad bar" completely, using the "Element Hiding Helper" add-on for AdblockPlus.

I'm new to this. I also had text ad in blue bar at top of Yahoo email. It looked just like screenshot someone posted above. I had Easylist, but not Fanboy. I added Fanboy and the ad went away. In its place is "first page" and "next page". Not sure why, but it doesn't matter.

easylist merged with fanboy ... there is no separate fanboy adblock subscription
(there are only fanboy social and annoyances)
