Hi lewisje,

I do humbly apologize for the errors made in my previous posting.

You can rest assured that posted has now been edited and I do hope you are satisfied with the result.

I am also pleased to have very recently found a GreaseMonkey etc. user script for http://www.pornhub.com, https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/6587-extendpornhub, I am currently putting it through a small selection of tests.

This also seems to be blocking those popups, the user script creator claims he has stopped them by fooling www.pornhub.com that you are using the very old "Presto Opera" browser.

It seems to be effectively blocking many annoyances on that website. I have only used it for a very short time, but so far so good!!!!

If using Firefox you can also install "Request Policy Continued" https://requestpolicycontinued.github.io/

This is NOT the older version on the Firefox Add Ons site which can be a real pain to use.

This "Request Policy Continued" can use a default Subscription List which is included and will block a good number of Cross Site requests from those annoying domains which are responsible for browser Redirects, They also often track you and produce these type of annoyances. The new version is easy to use and you can block anything annoying which slips past it in just a few clicks.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the Chrome or Opera browers, My preferred browser is indeed Firefox and I am reluctant to use Safari because there is simply nowhere near the same number of Extensions/Add Ons for Safari that are available for Firefox. I really only use Safari when Firefox has a problem with a site, Which is occurring only on very rare occasions now.

If you find anything else at all which needs correction or clarification in posting I will be only too happy to edit my post as soon as possible.

I already got that list and plugin (and plenty others...).

I think the popup is only called first time you click somewhere on the site(s), then no longer.

The problem with pornhub network (at least), is that though all(?) their ads are provided by Traffic Junky, I think they rotate them regularly and kept showing at the right, even after hiding/blocking them, so I got around that by stripping the filters to their common part and so far, so good (not sure if they're all related to these sites, though):

Code: Select all

###cboxOverlay
###cboxWrapper
###colorbox
###overlayBg
###topbar1
###adBlockAlert
###invideo_wrapper
###introOverlayBg
###popupOverlay
I also have these filters:

Code: Select all

||baskodenta.com^$third-party
||pornhub.com/jpg/big$image
||redtube.com/barelylegal$image
||redtube.com/nymphos$image
pornhub.com##DIV[style="float: none; position: static; clear: none; text-align: center; margin: 0px auto;"]
t8premium.com##.banner-bg
t8premium.com##.fancybox-overlay.fancybox-overlay-fixed
tube8.com##.level-up-popup-wrapper
youporn.com###adblock_1
Anyway, nightly is completely broken atm (ghost tab, non-working inspector, undo tab close, customize, etc.), so I can't dig deeper.

Hi cmmc,

I agree that the "Traffic Junky" ad network is responsible for this rubbish on these two websites, I have encountered their advertising on many other adult sites.

They are getting to be as bad as those notorious "Live Jasmin" or "MacKeeper" Pop Ups/Redirects which can prove to be very difficult to resolve as they keep using different tactics on a regular basis in a malicious cat and mouse type of game.

But with persistence and technical expertise solutions can be developed which will put the nail in the coffin for these pests.

Peter Lowe's subscription for Adblock Plus has a blocking filter for "Traffic Junky", so you can also use that list or simply add this blocking filter to your own Ad Blocking Rules, I have simply copied it from his list; ||trafficjunky.net^

Unfortunately the Firefox "Adblock Plus Pop Up" Add On is useless against these type of pests. I do wish they would work on making it more effective.

Until I discovered the GreaseMonkey scripts for http://www.pornhub.com and http://www.redtube.com, I also had to spend a lot of time blocking those specific areas where the ads appeared with the "Adblock Plus Element Hiding Helper" only to have them reappear a short time later.

To beat them took an awful lot of Element/Ad Blocking rules and iron willed determination. However I eventually defeated them all, so persistence is the key.

However the GreaseMonkey scripts previously mentioned have been effective in removing the bulk of it, So most of my custom Element Hiding/Ad Block rules for those sites have been deleted after discovering those GreaseMonkey scripts.

I can also once again state that I have NOT had one single Pop Up/Redirect whilst viewing http://www.pornub.com or http://www.redtube.com since I specifically blocked Firefox accepting cookies from those sites, don't forget to also clear out any existing cookies from those sites and also clear the Firefox Cache.

I agree that when I did get them it was only when clicking on the first video you wanted to view. This fits in with my observation that accepting cookies from these types of websites is obviously involved in regards to noting your visit to the websites and also is used in the timing and triggering of these Pop Ups/Redirects.

I don't know the mechanism or coding they use, but when someone with technical expertise analyzes this in detail, I'm sure it won't be too difficult to beat.

This type of tactic just goes to prove that cookies simply are NOT as harmless as some people state and that they can be used in underhanded ways.

I provided the other options because I have had to deploy them on a few other sites which use different tactics to display this type of rubbish.

Of course it's understandable that most subscription list maintainers have no desire to visit adult-only sites to block ads/nuisances which appear only there.

But the fact remains that there are many Adblock Plus users who do enjoy their adult content and it is about time that someone put in the time and effort to create an Adblock Plus subscription which specifically targets these websites as the currently available Ad Block subscriptions are simply missing far too much.

The problems with http://www.pornhub.com and http://www.redtube.com have been reported on these forums in the past, But unfortunately the subscription creators are simply NOT keeping pace with the changing tactics used because of this reason.

So I really feel there is need for a dedicated Adult Site subscription.

pardon my necroing but the ads persist. whats worse,none of them appear in adblock plus's "blockable items" list on that site. so it's ads on most, ifnot all, pages.
