This might be the problem.

so, is there a way to resolve the issue on the user's side?

Figure out what file needs to be whitelisted for those API calls to no longer fail, and then whitelist it; unfortunately, this may be one of those cases where you can't block the ads without also blocking the content. :(
There's a buzzin' in my brain I really can't explain; I think about it before they make me go to bed.

I did whitelist rdio, and of course that "fixes" the pop-up message, but that means I'm not getting any use out of ABP on that site. That's fine if it's the only workaround, but I guess I was hoping someone knew something I didn't about how to get ABP to work on the site like it does on virtually every other site I visit. Oh well, I'm still a happy ADP user.

I have the same problem and haven't been able to work out the filter which would enable blocking rdio ads without blocking the music.

I don't think so I went and saw Reek's work on the adblock killer, it doesn't work at all either.
