How to fix the issue with my website? AB+ blocks all links

Post by LUUCC »

Hi,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. You don't seem to have a forum for wesbite owners who have issues with AB+ - and not the you're stealing/diverting money from me issues.

AB+ blocks all of the links on my website http://www.luucc.co.uk. It never used to do this, and so i assume that you've got something relatively new in your code that doesn't like my website.

If you visit my website, you'll see that it's a perfectly innocent university canoe club website with no ads or malicious content.

During the next few months we get the majority of our hits, especially around mid August when new students to the university scope out all of the fun things they can do whilst being here.
So to me, it's quite important that i sort this issue out sooner than later because it could lose us potential new members.

Is my website something you could add to a white list of AB+? Or added to a safe list for all ad blocks?
Or alternatively, what is it about my website that AB+ doesn't like? My website, whilst in control of the canoe club will never host ads or malicious content, but i imagine the latter is probably the better solution.

We have two domain names - http://www.luucc.com and http://www.luucc.co.uk.
You'll notice that both domains point towards the same website.
The .com works perfectly and the .co.uk is where i have the issue.
You'll also notice that the .co.uk has a masking URL - Ie. every webpage has a URL of "www.luucc.co.uk". We have this because of an issue we have with our registrar of .co.uk, which means that we can't have individual URLs like most websites. Is this the only reason why AB+ doesn't like my website? Or is there something else that is going on?

So long as i don't have to engineer something like a flux capacitor, i'm open to all solutions. So give me some wise words of wisdom please?

Thanks
Rob

Ps. We could just use the .com domain, but it was only 'purchased' a number of months ago to catch any numpty who forgets the TLD. The .co.uk has been used for about 14 years and so the domain name is linked on various websites relevant to our activity.

-for filter issues there is the forum: viewforum.php?f=2
-or in your case better report directly to easylist support forum: http://forums.lanik.us/

-anyway back to your problem:
You are using some sitemeter scripts which then use vindico suite scripts to do their job
vindico stuff is blocked by a filter in easylist subscription:

Code: Select all

||vindicosuite.com^$third-party
and your links will be blocked (probably due to some poor integration in your pages)

So, you could:
1.remove the sitemeter script and the site will work fine. Quick fix.

or (if you want to keep that sitemeter scripts)

2.report to easylist forum and wait for a response (if positive the easylist authors will add an exception to their list). But don't expect it to be a quick fix.
an exception could be:

Code: Select all

@@||vindicosuite.com^$domain=luucc.co.uk

Thanks mapx! Your help is appreciated!

I think i've fixed the issue now. May someone verify that i've removed the sitemeter please?

Does anyone know of a 'plug in' type visitor counter, where i can see a total number of visits and unique visits per page that isn't blocked by the adblocker? Preferably one that could tell me this information per day or per week?

Thanks!
