Re: Block cpalead.com
1. Locate file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
2. Open hosts with wordpad
3. Copy and Paste
127.0.0.1 http://www.cpalead.com
127.0.0.1 cpalead.com
127.0.0.1 72.3.221.161
(**NOTE** 71.3.221.161 is the main IP for cpalead**)
4. It should look something like this:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 mpa.one.microsoft.com
# Start of entries inserted by Spybot - Search & Destroy
127.0.0.1 http://www.cpalead.com
127.0.0.1 cpalead.com
127.0.0.1 72.3.221.161
5. You are done. ENJOY!

Re: Block cpalead.com
went to surveyblock.com and tried it. works on every browser and even my iphone! had to pay but it's even cheaper than buying a soda
Re: Block cpalead.com
I have a way to block this on EVERY SINGLE SITE no the internet, and it's automatic, meaning no user interaction required. The only way to know is the alert I added to it to let you know it's working. Here it is:
http://dmmcintyre3.co.cc/cpalead-bypass/
It's not as easy as installing adblock plus, but it does work. It's free. The windows/linux version requires editing the hosts file though. Mac version you just install a program (not by me) and subscribe to a filter

Re: Block cpalead.com
I used firebug.
Using firebug, you can redifine javascript functions
dontscroll(){return null;}
Now you can scroll.
Demolish some more random javascript so that the script breaks.
Then finally find the iframe with a high z-index and change it's style to display:none

Re: Block cpalead.com
You don't need Firebug for that - simply type "javascript:void(window.dontscroll = function() {return null;})" into the location bar (or save it as a bookmark). GreaseMonkey allows you to do the same thing more comfortably.
Re: Block cpalead.com
I tried all of the above tips but still i get the annoying cpalead survey. any smart way to bypass this ?
Re: Block cpalead.com
hi all
has anyone considered using Fire foxes CAPS or Configurable Security Policies to short circuit cpaleads annoying ad spam scripts ? for example here is how you can disable the annoying alert windows that pop up if you try to disable the style sheet on a site using there crap
just add this to the user.js file and this will stop there scripts from accessing the Alert(), Confirm() & Prompt() JavaScript properties
now according to http://www.mozilla.org/projects/securit ... olicy.html its also possible to pick off script functions effectively allowing you to disable scripts that do irritating things like preventing you from scrolling or preventing you from right clicking
unfortunately I haven't been able to do this my self coz I don't know any javascript but I'm sure there are some smarter folks out there that would be able to work this one out and tell the rest of us how

Re: Block cpalead.com
ad muncher blocks every variation of cpalead by default. with zero side affects.
i use ad muncher on all my windows machines and adblock plus only on my mac and my ubuntu system.
i'm going to network them together next so i can have ad muncher filter my 2 non windows machines.
ahhh bliss ;p

Re: Block cpalead.com

Re: Block cpalead.com
I tried admuncher again recently just to see how well it works. I remember back in the day when I bought my sub for life for it (before I even started using Firefox, so long ago) and my main complaint with it was how much it slowed down page load times. I thought since computers had gotten faster that I should see if this has improved. I wasn't surprised at all to find that it had not and might even be slightly worse. Granted it worked without the extra page opening on a site I have issue with but the slow down was no where near worth it to me. Now I don't have top of line PC, but it is the Core2Due so it's no slouch either.
