Adblock Plus

How can I use AdBlock Plus to block Google Instant (without blocking the rest of Google's Javascript as well)?

I searched for an answer already and found several mentions of blocking these three:
I did this, restarted Firefox, and nothing changed...Google Instant was still enabled and as awful as ever.

I also found the suggestion to block this:
I did this and it worked but it also makes it impossible for me to do things like change the search settings (i.e. select and change 'Moderate Safe Search is On' in Google Image Search) so that's not really a great solution either.

So are there any other ways of blocking Google Instant/Google Preview with AdBlock Plus that won't also disable the rest of the Javascript features of the site? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Option 2 (saved in bookmarks): Use http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0 or https://encrypted.google.com/

Option 3 (saved in Adblock Plus): As you mentioned, it could break something, but the filter would at least limit the problems to the main search page and would not affect the image search settings.

Other options: Greasemonkey script, user agent modifications (apparently, I havent tested it), ...

Google Instant has come to https://encrypted.google.com/ also

I want Autocomplete but NO Instant.

My home page is the Encrypted version:

What should I add in my ABP rule to block Instant while keeping Autocomplete on?

thank you for the Adblock Plus tip - the suggested code did not halt the instant drop down silliness... has anybody else had success with this? (my default is to assume that it is my user generated error causing the problem, not with the script/instructions)

Adblock just stopped blocking google instant today. I have tried all the filters mentioned in this thread (add them, then restart firefox) to no avail. If anyone has other ideas, I'd be really grateful.

Generally, it may be better to start off the filter with ||google.com rather than ||www.google.com

This ^ sucks. What else can one conclude about it other than it is now a fact that Google is evil.

The first three filters mentioned are all hiding rules; what we need are proper blocking rules, which we have been trying to find farther into the thread.

This ^ worked perfectly for stopping google instant since the very begining when it was introduced.

But as of todday, it no longer works. The filter is still there in place and enabled, but google has changed something so that the filters are now rendered ineffective.

I've now blocked Google in all its forms from every computer in my home. I'm tired of being bombarded with the negative CRAP that shows up in their stupid suggestions/google instant. It's awful and just by performing a simple search I'm bombarded with the lowest, negative, and most ignorant crap people search for. I don't want it flashing before my eyes just because I'm performing a simple search.

I've read hundreds (literally) of suggestions, complaint, and so on on how to disable Google's invasive features. It's clear that Google doesn't give a flying fluck what their users want, think, or wish. Features are forced on to users like it or not, and complaints go unacknowledged.

I'm tired of this. I've blocked them from every computer in my home and voila - no more "suggestions". My computer and home are peaceful again.

Fluck you Google.
