data:text... popups -- Cannot be blocked?

The new thing seems to be bringing up a new tab that says data:text...(etc) which spawns popups. The little that I have found about those would indicate that they cannot be blocked. Is this the end of the line for conventional ad blockers?
Any future solutions being worked on? Perhaps it would be possible to prevent code on one tab from generating another tab?

Am I misreading this? That type of popup is new, but it is now pervasive, apparently because it circumvents normal popup blockers. I assumed that ABP would alread be working on it.
Thousands of messages come up when searching for the phrase "data:text/html;base64", which is the typical start of the URL.
If it matters, I was referring to Chrome, with updated ABP, but if you read any of the posts, you'll see that it occurs with any browser, even on mobile devices.
I have heard that at least one other blocker has been able to solve the problem, but I've been happy with ABP so far, so I thought it would be worth waiting on a solution. At least if it's an acknowledged problem...?

just provide the requested info.
for example in ABP for chrome you can block such crap for userscloud site using:

I'm not sure the info needed but i will say this. I went to download something from zippyshare. Clicked download and got this

but theres many different ones. Thats the info i can provide. These are becoming everywhere as i have noticed but from the last time i googled nothing on this site said they could be blocked

Its on Chrome using Ad Block Plus with Easy List enabled. If you want specifics Chrome Version 55.0.2883.87

Stupid question, sorry. I only just created an account to try to help give information about the stuff. am i supposed to add the || when i add filters?
Also i think you made an error
data:text/html$popup
without the two DDs. That seems to have worked for the zippyshare site. I will report back if i notice it happen anywhere else.

Yeah only works on that one site. If you goto

and try to watch the movie itll bring up the data text thing and then a redirect. Idk if this will ever be fixed but heres another one if you wanna try
