If I am XYZ.com, and tap the URL bar to search for something, the first thing what happens is that the current site URL of XYZ.com is highlighted.
I process to hit backspace in order to fill in a search term, and instantly my previous page's URL shows up affixed to the end of my search term. Why is this? It's incredibly frustrating.
Thank you.
Tapping on URL to search returns old tab URL

To clarify, it is returning pages from my history as recommended pages as I type in a search. Cannot find a way to turn it off.

Found howto disable this...
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste urlb and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.urlbar.autoFill preference to switch it from true to false.
