After installing ABP for Safari app from AppStore for iPad Mini (IOS 9 latest) the option to enable ABP in Safari Content Blocker settings is visible but greyed out. ABP app itself seems happy including the initial startup screens. Restart of device, delete and reinstall app, stopping Safari and various combinations do not resolve the issue.
I'm a long term user on Firefox Windows and already using ABP on iPhone 6 so pretty familiar with what ABP does. Just somewhat frustrated the iPad won't take the app. Nothing coming up on ABP forum search or general Internet search so any suggestions?
TIA.
ABP Content blocker greyed out on iPad
Re: ABP Content blocker greyed out on iPad
Hi,
can you tell us which version of the iPad Mini you have? The first version is a 32 bit device, and Apple decided to only allow content blockers on 64 bit devices.
Edit: We found a possible reason: The content blocking options are greyed out if the device has “website restrictions” on. Basically a device URL blacklist. To fix, Go to Settings > General > Restrictions > Websites and turn off restrictions. This’ll allow the content blocker to be turned on. You can re-enable restrictions after ABP is activated.
