ADP blocks HTML, PDF and EPUB files from opening in Edge

Adblock Plus prevents opening of HTML files located on disk, PDF files located on disk and EPUB files located on disk from opening in Edge. This is with a fresh install of ADP. Any URL that begins with file:/// is blocked.

When you open one of these files the browser tab opens but the window is just blank (white).

I've having the same trouble in Edge; see Microsoft posting here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/edg ... d75ab9bd0e

Version: 0.9.11
Microsoft Edge 41.16299.402.0
Windows 10 Pro
All relevant configuration details, e.g. filter lists used, your own filters, unusual browser configuration, other extensions, etc.

I haven't created my own filter lists. But I do have other extensions: Honey, Ebates, JSON Formatter and a local extension I created

Steps:

1) Create or save an HTML file locally.
2) With the Adblock Plus extension running, attempt to open the file in Edge
3) Note that the HTML file doesn't open. Instead you'll see this on the tab: "ms-appx-web://microsoft.microsoftedge/assests/errorpages/dnserror.html?ErrorStatus=0x800C0011"
4) Disable/Turn off Adblock Plus extension
5) Refresh the "local HTML file" tab
6) Note that it now displays properly

I'm not sure what's causing this problem. I looked at the Adblock Plus settings, but couldn't figure out what to do, since this is a local file. I'm not sure how I'd "whitelist" it, but I shouldn't have to do so. Things were working fine on Friday, 6/1, and local HTML files opened without a problem. Perhaps something changed since then?

Thanks,
Ryan

I'm having the same issue trying to open a local file named "BlankBlackPage.html" that I use for my home page. It worked fine until recently.

Code: Select all

<html>
<head>
<title>Blank Black Page</title>
<style>body {background-color: black;}
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>

Hello!

This issue should have been resolved with Window's April Update.  Please reference this ticket for more details https://issues.adblockplus.org/ticket/5918. Were you able to update successfully? Does the issue persist after updating?

I looked at ticket https://issues.adblockplus.org/ticket/5918. It suggest posting a minimum required version for Edge? or Windows? What version would that be?

I always allow updates from Microsoft and all updates are up-to-date. The problem persists.

I currently have (using command winver) Windows version 1709 OS build 16299.461. Currently I have Microsoft Edge 41.16299.461.0 is that sufficient?

I just had a major update of Windows 10 (June 8, 2018) my Windows version (using command winver) is now 1803 OS build 17134.81 and my Edge version is 42.17134.1.0.

The problem seems to be fixed for this new update. I am able to open all local files in Edge.
