Not easy to explain, and I hope I've got the evidence right
I sometimes watch a catch-up programme on UK's Channel4. It contains adverts, and I can't view anything unless I whitelist the site. Don't like it, but that's how it works
I spend those 3 minutes doing something else, browsing usually
But, this has changed recently. Now, if I switch to a different window, the Channel4 window pauses, but ONLY during the adverts. In the main programme, I can switch without trouble. If I play the programme in the background, the video & soundtrack suddenly stop when it hits the adverts
I tend to use Edge-Chromium to view the programme. I get the same unrequested pause whichever browser I switch into (Edge, Chrome, IE). Other Apps (eg, Calculator) seem to be unaffected & I can play with those during the adverts
I understand the stuff about them needing their advertisng revenue, but I strongly feel they're abusing the situation by interfering with my PC's setup
If Channel4 get away with this, then so will every other playback & streaming service
AdBlock and UK Channel4
