For some serious ad-blocking on iOS, try Weblock (not free, sets up a custom proxy-autoconfig PAC file to block content, your $1.99 purchase helps them keep hosting those custom PAC files) and maybe the Atomic Browser or one of many other browsers with some simple blocklist integrated (none of which, to my knowledge, are free, most are 99 cents).
The issue with any custom iOS browser, except maybe later in the iOS8 cycle, is that all browsers other than Safari are forced to use a slower Javascript engine, so many sites are less responsive on Atomic Browser and other third-party browser apps.
There's a buzzin' in my brain I really can't explain; I think about it before they make me go to bed.
