ABP for Synology NAS

Post by Sasham »

Hello there!
I suggest you to extend supported platforms by making ABP for Synology NAS devices.

Many services such as BitTorrent, Plex, etc are alredy developed applications for Synology OS a.k.a. DSM
(full list is here^ https://www.synology.com/en-us/dsm/app_packages/ )

Adblock Plus service can be set up as configured Proxy server with blocked adds sites. Of course Filters must be selectable and updateable.

ABP born as a browser extension (firefox, chrome, safari, IE). Only for android is as a proxy app.
Probably you need something like privoxy.

ABP is famous for its updateble ads filters. Here privoxy suffers.
My proposal to do proxy appeared from watching on how abp for android works.
The point is if it would be ABP proxy on NAS, many devices can be taken under its "umbrella", whereever you use them. Including, for example corporate devices, where 3rd party apps are prohibited.
Performance will be also increased as it would be not need to install and start filter on every device. Just connect it to the proxy.
