Hi,
I have an idea about an addition to adblock+ that is sort of country specific, and probably not that interesting for adblock+ in general.
I wonder what is possible to do. I'm not sure, but I think the additional feature is relatively easy to implement. In order to distinguish the application from ordinary adblock+ it would also need to have another name.
There's no commercial interest in this idea, even though it has some potential for that if it would be successfull.
In short. Is it possible to use the adblock+ code, get a programmer to add the extra feature, and launch it with another name?
If so, how would I proceed?

Adding a feature and rename the app?
Re: Adding a feature and rename the app?
ABP for firefox for example is released under:
GNU General Public License, version 3.0
GNU General Public License, version 3.0
Re: Adding a feature and rename the app?
So this is the only requirement?
"But if you release the modified version to the public in some way, the GPL requires you to make the modified source code available to the program's users, under the GPL."

to be sure, go to irc channel of the ABP team and ask one of the developers (try Palant)
