Hypocrites! Adblock Plus serves ads

Post by TerrifiedSloth »

Adblock Plus blocks ads, yet is serves it's own ads.

Why aren't notifications turned off by default, surely they should be? Adblock Plus pops up an irritating 'Get the new adblock plus for ios' advert every few days in the bottom right corner when using Chrome until you go into settings and disable it.

A notification would be to tell us the extension has an upgrade for example, restart Chrome to get it. Advertising another product you provide isn't a notification, it's an advert.

You're advertising another product of yours within the ad blocking extension. How does that make sense? That's an advert. It isn't discreet or labelled as an advertisement, it appears over your browser window like those annoying slide in adverts.

Hypocrites.

You can't have it both ways, you can't block ads and then serve up your own to your users and not adhering to your own ad guidelines.

Self-promotion should not be specifically removed by EasyList, although equally should not be whitelisted if it is blocked.

I didn't get such auto-promotion yet.
