Replace Ads instead of deleting/hiding them?

Hey Guys,

I just wonder if it's possible to replace the Ads with something else, like an image, some text, js scripts, ...
I know its possible but would it be easy to do as an Developer new to Addon-Development but very known to C#, Java, PHP, HTML, ... ?

I know that an idea I had long advocated (redirecting to minimal or no-op versions of the requested content) doesn't work well in Chrome with the webRequest API; Raymond Hill tried it early in the development of uBlock and it caused a bunch of errors with HTTPS Everywhere: https://github.com/chrisaljoudi/uBlock/issues/18

I think a similar problem will happen if you redirect ad-requests to some sort of "here be blocked ads" indicator.
