sfgate.com - just changed - no third party requests

Post by stevedb321 »

I noticed that the San Francisco Chronicle's web page (sfgate.com) has radically changed this morning. All scripts now originate from the sfgate.com domain. They are marked with very long prefixes that seem to generated for each session. Here's an example:

Even the images are labeled in this fashion

I've not seen the directory prefix .g00 before.

My guess is that instead of pointing to third party scripts such as taboola.com that can be easily blocked, they have those scripts sent to their own server and then have the name encoded in a way that one can't use matching patterns to block before passing the script to the browser.

I wonder if this a new thrust in the war between ad servers/trackers and ad blockers.
