[Done] Make "this element is blocked" marking more

I just got a message by a friend of mine who is colourblind. He complained
that it is a little bit difficult to see whether a specific element in the
blockable elements list is blocked.

The only hint for him is the size of the little button at the end of each line.

He suggested to use different shapes for blocked/not blocked. Maybe
change the "blocked" button to a cross or something similar?

I think he has a real point...

Maybe we should make it a red cross for blocked while keeping the icons for not blocked and whitelisted...

If it's possible to change colour, is it possible to change style as well? strikeout or underline for blocked content for example.

Also may be it is possible to change the colour to something that's easier to read for colourblinds?
I found on google a photoshop plugin that helps us to see what they see.

The usual request is italics - but even though it is easier to recognize for colourblinds, it is more difficult to read for everybody else.

I think a cross would be a good idea.

I don't know about distinguishing whitelisted from
unmodified - maybe a little green circle instead of
a "blob"?

Crossing it out won't make it easy to read for people whose mother tongue is not English, since they read letters not words or shapes. Although reading url was never easy for them anyway...

How about the font? Colour blinds (and designers :) should be more sensitive to font I guess?

I think crossing something out is in use pretty everywhere in the world.
I didn't mean for something to symbolise the word "crossing", but a
cross to symbolise something being crossed out. I don't think this would
be a language problem.

@sheepy: I didn't mean doing anything with the text. So far I talk about changing the icon displayed in the State column (hidden by default).

I think a circle would be a nice, clean idea. A bunch of crosses would look ugly...

Just bumping this topic back up - abovementioned friend asked me
if there are improvements planned, And I had to admit I don't know.
I believe we just all forgot about it :?

Wladimir: Maybe I should create a bug about it as a reminder?

Creating an icon would help more :)

Edit: bug 16227

Working on it :-)

Lousy little mockup:

I already quite like the circle, the cross however obviously needs some refining.
I always find creating good icons with a mere double digit pixel count very tricky.

Image updated - what do you think?

The shadow of the circle is a little too large. The shadow of the cross is on the wrong side...
