can we have a link or button to the contribute page ?

Also FB and any other social media button
Just a image linking to the FB fan page?
Lot of free and pretty icons available

Home page modification: done. If you aren't logged it might take up to an hour for the changes to show up.

Images for social media links: not so sure about that, at least Facebook seems allergic to people using their images for something that "isn't Facebook functionality" (meaning: user-spying Facebook widget).

But after skimming through them... i think you can safely use their image or a custom facebook image.
