Mine was FVD Downloader for Google Chrome D: I use this extension ALL THE TIME, so I got worried at the thought of deleting the extension. But luckily I just clicked on "options" for the extension and unchecked "enabled FVD Video Downloader Deals". I'm not getting the annoying pop up anymore now, and I can still keep the extension :o

Please note that all AdBlock does is WARN YOU that you have the Superfish "virus" by displaying that "App of the Day" message. AdBlock isn't causing it, one of your other extensions is. But you can fix it.

Here are the instructions from the first page of this thread:
Folks, it's not ABP. ABP is blocking a rogue extension from communicating with superfish.com - and you're seeing the text alternative.

Try this... Go here: http://www.speedtest.net/result/3636793458.png

This is a benign image of a speed test. If you have the superfish code, you'll see its (App of the Day) text just beneath the image (make sure ABP is on).

Leave that page up. Then bring up another page with your extensions (chrome://extensions). Turn off ALL of them EXCEPT ABP. Then refresh the image page above. If the text is gone, start turning on one extension at a time - refreshing the image link between each activation. When you get to the culprit, the text will reappear beneath the image. Then just leave that extension off (or remove it).

Seems like a lot of Chrome extension developers are "selling out" to ad companies. I'm reading they're paying 6-figures PER MONTH to buy rights to add their code to existing extensions. Since Google has cracked down on getting new extensions approved, they've resorted to corrupting existing ones.

If you find which extension is the evil-doer, please post it here.
I am not the only one whose X-Notifier was corrupted. I also was using Awesome Screenshot, which I removed when I saw other folks had listed it here.

After you find the bad extension, remove it, and run the Malwarebytes scan (free) from here: https://www.malwarebytes.org/ which is the only way to remove Superfish/App of the Day.

AdBlock is HELPING us by showing us the text instead of showing is ads from shady websites.
