Stopping Redirects On tube8.com

Post by jputting »

Hi,

I am having an issue with an ADULT CONTENT site called http://www.tube8.com, When you visit and try playing a video for the first time you are automatically redirected to a variety of other adult sites such as http://www.ashleyrnadison or other live cam sites etc.

I have noticed that these redirects seem to be being handled by an ad network called ebocornac.com

This problem seems only to occur when you play the first video you click on.

My subscription lists are Easy List, Fanboy's Annoyances and the Spam list.

Can anyone please help stop these very annoying redirects on this site.

Hi mapx,

I just took a quick look at the information you referred to and have noticed that they are considering the following measures.

Implement $redir flag which will prevent redirection to the target page if it matches. Similar to $popup one. If a page were redirected in the background tab - close that tab.

Alternative: make $popup handle both popups and redirects since it already monitors chains of redirections in the newly opened tabs.

I do think that these possible solutions should be implemented in Adblock Plus very urgently as these type of Redirects are quite annoying and are also used by the notorious live jasmin, mackeeper and traffic junky amongst many others.

They really are becoming the bane of internet surfing and I do hope someone may have have a few ideas on stopping them perhaps using some other Firefox add on or other tactic.

Adblock Plus and the Pop Up add on for it are NOT up to the job.

They really do need to be improved to handle this sneaky underhanded type of annoying advertisement redirection.

Hi mapx,

I just did add my comments on the link you referred to in your previous posting and clearly stated that the measures they were considering should be implemented in Adblock Plus very urgently.

Unfortunately I can't go into the technical side of things as I'm like the majority of Adblock Plus users who are'nt all that knowledgable on the complicated inner workings of this add on.

It's simply a shame that Adblock Plus is completely failing to deal with these very annoying advertising redirects, As previously mentioned Adblock Plus needs to lift its game.

If Adblock Plus simply isn't up to the job, I do hope someone else may have a few ideas on how to stop these Redirects by using another Firefox add on or some other clever tactic.

try these steps:

in firefox
1.install firebug https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/firebug/
2.install https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addo ... rage-plus/
3.go to tube8.com
4.click the new firebug icon or right click the page and "inspect element with firebug"
5.click the last tab: "FireStorage Plus!"
6.go to localStorage tab
7.see the element: InfNumFastPopsExpire (which has an expired date like ==> Sat Apr 11 2015 21:55:27 GMT+0200)
8.right click that row and choose edit
9.change the year to 2020, confirm ok

in chrome
1.go to tube8.com
2.right click on page ==> inspect element
3.go to Resources tab
4.see Local Storage
5.choose http://www.tube8.com
6.see on the right panel InfNumFastPopsExpire
7.edit directly the value of InfNumFastPopsExpire changing the year to 2020

the same mechanism for youporn site (and same element name)

Hi mapx,

Thank you very much for your assistance so far in dealing with this annoying Redirection problem.

I have indeed downloaded and installed the 2 Firefox add ons you recommended an I very carefully followed the instructions you gave me and am pleased to say that this stops the Redirects while I'm on the website.

However when I restart Firefox and revisit www.tube8.com the Redirects started once again.

I open up Firebug and inspected the page and found the alteration to the date under InfNumFastPopsExpire which I had changed to the year 2020 as you advised(yes I did click OK to save the change) This date alteration had reverted back to its previous expiry date and continues to revert back each time Firefox is restarted.

I don't know if there is something wrong I have done, But I tried to carefully follow your instructions to the letter. I really don't know why this change is NOT permanently saved.

I really would appreciate any further suggestions.

I restarted firefox and the changed date is still there.
Did you check your settings ? Like deleting cookies on exit ? ==> it seems will delete also the local storage
or if you have some other cleaning addon which will delete last cookies

Hi mapx,

I am pleased to inform you that your advice has now fixed this Redirect problem with tube8

I just hope they don't find some other tactic to circumvent this measure.

I do have Firefox set up to dispose of most cookies when closed and just add exceptions for those websites that need them and of course those Firebug changes are now saved now that there's an exception to allow tube8's cookies.

I do usually block cookies for most Adult content sites as they use cookies to recognize your prescence and for the timing of these redirects and pop ups and this simple measure normally stops them happening.

The Firefox add on "Request Policy Continued" can also block them, But I can't see any way to disable the annoying browser drop down message telling you that a redirect has been blocked, I can easily tell if a needed redirect has been blocked.

In regards to youporn, pornhub and redtube there are some very good GreaseMonkey Scripts which specifically target these sites and clean up most of the ads and normally prevent redirects/pop ups apparently the script creator has fooled some of these websites into thinking your using the very old Opera Presto browser.

Anyway many thanks for your help.
