How to report filter problems with Android?

Post by Mozai »

Adblock Plus for Android stopped blocking ads a couple weeks ago. According to the en/bugs, "An advertisement isn't blocked: this is a filters issue, please report it by other means." It describes how to report an unblocked advert using the Windows version of AdblockPlus, en/getting_started#false-negatives but not how to report when using the Android version of AdblockPlus.

How do I report an unblocked advertisement / a deficient filter when using the Android version of AdBlock Plus?

(I've already looked into "Samsung Security Policy Update" -- I do not have this installed on my smartphone, so I can't "fix" AdBlockPlus by uninstalling it.)

There is no such feature in ABP for android. However in your case all the ads are still shown so it's not about a specific ad on some page.
Try to install again ABP.

I found something interesting while following your advice.

I uninstalled AdblockPlus for Android, but I didn't change the proxy settings in Settings -> Wi-Fi -> Wi-Fi networks: [name of network] -> Modify network config -> Advanced options: Proxy. So technically I should be getting connection timed out or reset for all internet, but instead I see that some apps error out (android's built in "internet", Google's YouTube, Google Plus, Imgur, Facebook, Google Chrome) but other apps are still making successful internet accesses (WeatherUnderground, Netflix, Google Maps, Lightning browser, Google Drive, ServStream).

It seems some Android apps are ignoring the network configuration for using an http proxy. Maybe this is why AdblockPlus isn't working?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Adblockplus a few times now, and the adverts are not being blocked.
Perhaps the advert banners are using https:// from now on, and thus ignoring the wifi settings for "http proxy"?

Adblockplus used to also block the flashing-flickering adverts that are in Android apps, but that stopped at the same time. It's difficult to believe that they'd push updates to the Google Advertising code for every app, but it's possible they updated the list of banner adverts to show by replacing "http://" urls with "https://".
