Bug Report

Post by bimmerdriver »

I'm having trouble with https://ads.nipr.ac.jp/, probably due to the unfortunate domain name. This website is the Arctic Data Archive System of the National Institute of Polar Research of the Arctic Environment Research Center of Japan. It does not have any ads of any kind

The links I'm trying to access are the following:

https://ads.nipr.ac.jp/vishop/vishop-extent.html?N
https://ads.nipr.ac.jp/vishop/vishop-extent.html?S

https://ads.nipr.ac.jp/vishop/graph/Sea ... t_N_v2.png
https://ads.nipr.ac.jp/vishop/graph/Sea ... t_S_v2.png
https://ads.nipr.ac.jp/vishop/graph/Sea ... rev_v2.png
https://ads.nipr.ac.jp/vishop/graph/Sea ... rev_v2.png

For the first two links, I was able to get them to display properly by putting in a filter for ads.nipr.ac.jp. The filter doesn't work properly for the four links. When I click on them, the page opens, but doesn't render. It stays blank until I refresh it.

I was able to get them to work by disabling adblockplus everywhere. There must be a bug in the filtering mechanism.

Any suggestions? Ideally, since this website does not have any ads, it should be filtered in general.

Also, I tried this on chrome and the filter works properly.

report the issue at easylist support forum
http://forums.lanik.us/

anyway you need a filter like this:

Code: Select all

@@||ads.nipr.ac.jp$~third-party

Thanks for the reply.

I tried your suggested filter.

For the ADS homepage, it initially displays, then some content is removed.
For the second group of links, they seem to display properly.
For the third group of links, they are blank.

I removed the filter and refreshed the page. Then tried to open the homepage. It didn't display properly, so I clicked on the ABP icon and selected disable on ads.nipr.ac.jp. It added a filter for ads.nipr.ac.jp, which I have to refresh each of the links for them to display properly.

Am I doing something wrong?

You posted in the IE subforum.

So, how did you add that filter in ABP for IE ?

Sorry if I'm not being clear.

I'm trying to get this working on IE11. No problems on chrome. (By clicking disable on ads.nipr.ac.jp on the ABP icon, all of the links display properly.

I initially added the filter by clicking disable on ads.nipr.ac.jp on the ABP icon. That didn't work properly as I described above. I entered your suggested filter by copying and pasting it into ABP settings.

Thank you for the update and for the instructions to force the update.

I tested the filter. The homepage and vishop pages load properly, but the images still don't load. Not sure if this is a problem with the filter or with ABP. (I posted this on the easylist forum also.)

UPDATE: I cleared the filter and tried it again and this time they are all working. Not sure why that happened.

ANOTHER UPDATE: I was wondering if I was imagining something. Apparently not. I closed down all instances of IE, restarted IE and the problem returned. As I reported previously, the homepage and vishop pages load properly, but the images still don't load. Not sure if this is a problem with the filter or with ABP.

Thanks very much. FYI, I've never experienced a support forum that comes close to this one for responsiveness.
