Spanish subscription

Post by Nukeador »

Hello Wladimir,

I'm Rubén Martín, we met in Paris and I sent you the es-ES translation for AMO description, I have tried to contact you at you email a couple of time with no success ;)

I wrote you because I was talking with Maty, who is maintaining a Spanish specific lists for adblock plus and he wants you to publish it with the rest of the subscriptions.

This list is wonderful for Spanish related sites and would be great to have it in the Default subscription list when you install Adblock Plus.

I think he sent you the list url time ago but he didn't have any reply:

Regards.

not a very orginal list either, you've seemed to ripped parts from other lists. Permission and credit due?

Parts? ... Spanish specific?
The whole first quarter of that list is the EasyList word-for-word ... right down to the whitelisting. It took quite a while just to read down through all the plagiarized filtering just to get to the actual Spanish strings (which aren't done very well at all).

Nice job of simply reprinting other author's filtering and then just adding your own. Did you actually think that we wouldn't notice?

With those different subscriptions mixed together, I wouldn't recommend those to ANYONE! Why don't these 'geniuses' try doing their OWN work .... or do something like actually make a 'spanish specific' ONLY filter.

ps: Good luck getting THAT "stolen" mess of a subscription published here. What are you going to do? .... recopy my subscription every time I have to fix problems?

No way does this go up, Wladimir!

OK ... I calmed down a bit. I think you have the right idea but just implemented it wrong.

If you want to use the EasyList, simply remove the EasyList part of the subscription and make your subscription a Spanish 'supplemental subscription for the EasyList (like others have done). I would have no problem with that at all. As a matter of fact, it would be nice to have an addition like that. Two compatible subscriptions are automatically "combined" here into one ... that way each author can take care of his own and they are AUTOMATICALLY recombined into one right here on this domain. They can be downloaded separately or as a "combo" subscription.

There is just no way to maintain a subscription that you didn't create because you have no idea why many of those are there

I dont think anybody should be needing your permission to use some strings that exists in almost every subscription on wladimirs page

I also dont think that you should be telling wladimir what he can and cant do. That just dont seem right.

your not really that special rick, even if you think you are.

@innocentbystander

SOME?

It's pretty much a copy of my whole subscription. Those do not exist in ANYONE'S subscription on Wladimir's page.

The subscriptions that you are talking about contain a combination of one subscription and another. Wladimir has them automatically combine into one here and the separation and crediting is clearly marked. It is done as a convenience to users that want to use both subscriptions. They are still created & maintained by each separate author and not printed on the non-author's subscription.

You think that I think that I am 'special"? That's what you think? You can think of me what you want, but no one likes their hard work stolen and re-claimed as someone else's hard work.

What do they call that?

Thank you, Maty. I'm sure that you just misunderstood how some of the other filters worked or were combined. I think it is fantastic that there is now a Spanish subscription.

Doing it that way is perfectly acceptable to me. That way you have the advantage of me always having proper updates of my filter strings along with your maintenance of yours.

Sorry about flying off the handle in my first post ... but I'm very protective of what is my hard work.

Welcome to the ABP forum :)

@Maty:

You probably should remove the EasyList @@whitelisting too as it becomes redundant between yours and mine and is frequently added to, changed, & modified because advertisers are also trying new things.

ps:
Again, please forgive me if I misunderstood the intentions of your subscription. It's just that someone got Wladimir to post a Spanish subscription a while ago here .... the subscription was an EXACT copy of the EasyList with seven (that's right, I said "seven") Spanish strings added to the end of it. Wladimir immediately removed it.

If you would like to interact with us on filtering issue, I would be more than happy to have you join my forum (link below).

I'm not sure what you mean.

If you are talking about the whitelist strings, you should only need whitelisting for anything that affects only the filters for YOUR subscription ... I will take care of the ones for mine. It works best that way. If there is a conflict problem somehow between the two, simply write me and we can fix it.

The best way is to use both the EasyList install link, AND your install link on your site (2 different filters in ABP). If you want the 2 subscriptions to be 'combined', you will need to ask if Wladimir will automatically combine and update them together here.

The EasyList install link is:

Code: Select all

abp://subscribe/?location=http://easylist.adblockplus.org/adblock_rick752.txt&title=Rick752%27s%20EasyList%20(usa)
ps: It would probably be better if we continued this on my forum:
