Photobucket - Ads not blocked

Post by GilesCoreyda »

Photobucket has some pretty annoying anti-adblock measures in place, Their adds not only lag, are intrusive, but sometimes can be malicious. I have tried manually blocking them, their entire coded areas, and it just re-pops up.

I'm at a loss, Help would be greatly appreciated.

i am having the same exact problem. i added the filter above but it doesn't seem to fix it. there is one BIG ad that comes down in the middle of the page; that i fixed when i did "block element" but there are also ads in all the normal places, such as a banner ad on the top and two ads on the side, which seem to just happily ignore the fact that ABP is installed and they always pop up again even after i block the elements. it also only happens the most when i'm in a photobucket library, though there is one banner ad on the main home page as well.

thank you to anyone who can help! i use photobucket daily and the ads are so laggy and annoying :|

example links are kind of difficult because i have to log in to get to the area where i'm seeing them most :/

but try these for example links:

Code: Select all

http://www.photobucket.com
http://s118.photobucket.com/user/mmelacelle/library/?sort=3&page=1
and then here are screenshots:

this is what i see immediately after going to my library, it's a giant dropdown ad:

when i close that i get my library but i still see banner and side ads like so:
http://imgur.com/M4naltG

and then one on the side further down the page:

weird, I get those ads only disabling ABP on that page.
Did you whitelisted photobucket.com ?
Check your filter lists: should be enabled and without download errors
Check also your custom filters, remove those for photobucket

I still cannot reproduce your ads.
1. check your filter lists ==> see if there are download errors in the options page (filter lists tab)
2. check if you have custom filters for photobucket and remove them
3. disable all other extensions, keep only ABP, test again
4. try adding these filters see if helps

Code: Select all

I appreciate your help mapx, but even after following your advice, I still have ads on Photobucket. The page is just about unusable for me as my computer is quite old and just can't handle the website.

follow the indications here:
forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=43791

and then upload screenshots with only the blocked items (select blocked in the top left box). For uploading use imgur.com, then post here the link.

strangely enough, i installed that developer's build and now when i first go to the page, there are a million ads as usual, but when i right click and select "inspect" as indicated in the instructions, suddenly all the ads disappear...

i'm starting to think it's something on my end but i'm not sure what it could be! i disabled all of my extensions except for ABP and no change!

regardless, thank you so much for all the help!

I have the same issue. :( The ads were blocked last month. I mean June and July 2016. What happened? Also noticed if shockwave flash crashes or the ad fails to load, then photobucket completely hangs and becomes non functional.

Chrome version:
Version 49.0.2623.112 (64-bit)

This computer will no longer receive Google Chrome updates because Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 are no longer supported. Learn more
Can't update chrome. Can't update my OS. I rely on photoshop CS5 which would no longer work with the supported OS for chrome.
