site www.hotstar.com shows ads in videos

Post by avinash.manchikanti »

Hi,

Hotstar.com is a video hosting site with at least 7 ads per video. ABP now currently allows this ads. Kindly verify and have a fix for this. Thanks in advance

The site url is : http://hotstar.com

If it's a Flash-based video-player, then extensions for Edge can't block ads in them: forum/viewtopic.php?t=48204

Also on Ekstrabladet.dk, ads in videos ain't removed, it blocking works fine in IE11, but not in edge, would be nice with a blocking,
as ads on Ekstrabladet.dk has a very high sound..

I have verified that hotstar.com uses a Flash-based video-player, and so does ekstrabladet.dk

This means that an Edge extension cannot intercept ads in those video-players.

The extension for Internet Explorer can do it, because ABP for IE actually bundles the V8 engine and re-implements the necessary APIs that the Chrome extension uses: blog/working-towards-adblock-plus-for-internet-explorer

This sort of thing cannot be done in Microsoft Edge, because it does not allow binaries in extensions (in fact, the only significant browser that allows but does not require compiled executable binaries in extensions is Firefox, and ABP for Firefox has never used such binaries, and soon, Firefox will stop allowing them in extensions).
