Unblockable Ad??

Post by Ceolona »

Any idea how to block the trash on this website?

Website:

Code: Select all

https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/the-1-thing-david-harbour-wants-to-happen-in-stranger-things-3.html
Source includes items like:
div class="vuwnezlzj"
div class="gbqfwapq"
div class="gbqfwaabe mdeyheadline_1">

I can't figure out a specific filter, as it seems that there is a script of some sort that generates random DIV names

OK. Did some digging... still need assistance.

The website appears to have some code to deal with adblockers. *sigh* The source code seems to reference Taboola, Revcontent, Outbrain and Adblade. (all of which are pretty much my reason for installing ad blockers!)

After manually entering those Evil Four into ABP, the offending ads are hidden. The final remnant is a "Treding Entertainment Articles" box with a spinner.

Tips on blocking that ad loader script (Treding Entertainment Articles)?

The filters got rid of the spinner, but the ads have come back (regardless of filter settings)

Also, the ads are NOT present in Firefox (without custom filters, default settings). Only Edge lets them through.

Did you update the lists ?

What unblocked ads are you seeing ? eventually upload a screenshot (use imgur.com, post here the link)

So I use several browsers for different things (giggity), but something I notice is my Firefox has better ad-blocking than Chrome. Both use Adblock+. Chrome blocks ads relatively well without issue on 95% of the sites I visit. But some sites have ads (TF2Outpost, Twitch, to name a few) As a test I loaded my Porn brows....Firefox, and visited the sites where I notice ads on Chrome and they're no where to be found on Firefox.
Seems as if my Firefox is 100% ad free with ADB+ and Chrome has some ads in view.
Any idea why "some" sites still load ads on Chrome with ADB+?

They have different approach on some internals, API, so ABP has different rights or possibility to block the ads.
However, since FF 57 (quantum) ABP will be 99% the same (ABP was stronger in the old firefox system)
