Chrome disabling all adblock plugins periodically?
I'm using Adblock, Adblock Plus, and Adblock for Youtube, mostly watching youtube videos. I've noticed that sometimes the plugins will get disabled and have to be re-enabled, I notice it because youtube suddenly displays an ad. I'm wondering if Google is now directly attacking the blockers at the extension level ?fedloan irs.gov easybib

@DavidFernas Thanks for bringing this to our attention. How often is this happening for you? Do you notice the same behavior after creating a new chrome profile? https://support.google.com/chrome/answe ... ktop&hl=en We look forward to your follow up!

Re: Chrome disabling all adblock plugins periodically?
Hi,
this has been happening to me for about 6 weeks.
ABP for Chromebook disabled almost every time I login to Chromebook.
I have a shortcut to the plugin page and click the 'enable' link.
Also, happens to LastPass but not as frequently.
My Chromebook no longer gets updates from Google as of about 3 months ago.

@davoid Thanks for making us aware of this. Does this issue persist in a new Chrome Profile?
Thanks

Re: Chrome disabling all adblock plugins periodically?
Hi,
no worries.
I haven't tried a new profile. Does this mean adding a new user when logging into my Chromebook?
It seems like a lot of work, basically starting from scratch, and then have to set i up to be the same as the old one.

@davoid
It would be like adding a new user to the browser specifically versus the computer as a whole if that makes sense. You can find the steps here https://support.google.com/chrome/answe ... ktop&hl=en. Let me know if this helps!
Thanks

Re: Chrome disabling all adblock plugins periodically?
Hi Shannon,
Thanks for the link.
I have seen those instructions before, but they don't apply to my setup.
If I have Chrome running, there's no Profile icon at the top right.
There is only the 3 dots for Settings.
In Settings there is the People section, and Manage Other People, but there's only:
Enable Guest Browsing, and
Show usernames and photos on the sign-in screen
On page you sent the link to, it has a link to:
Add a person to your Chromebook
but this is what I said: starting a new user from scratch on the Chromebook.

Re: Chrome disabling all adblock plugins periodically?
Hi Shannon,
I tried adding a new user from the Chromebook login page.
I just added the same name and email address as the current one, and it must have overwritten it, as there's still just the one user at login,
but the good news is, it seems to have worked. I did it a couple of days ago and no disabled addons as yet.
So thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
I hope this helps anyone else with the same issues.

Re: Chrome disabling all adblock plugins periodically?
Hi Shannon,
I spoke too soon. Unfortunately the problem re-occurred today. ABP and Disable HTML5 Autoplay addons were both disabled again.
For what it's worth: the Chromebook I am using has stopped receiving security updates from Chrome Support as of a about 6 months ago.
So not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Chrome OS Version 76.0.3809.136 (Official Build) (64-bit).

Hi,
I think Google through Chromium and therefore Chrome is the cause:

Re: Chrome disabling all adblock plugins periodically?
Hi Davoid!
Thanks for update! I have yet to experience this on my end. Can you try removing Adblock Plus using the the instructions in this link https://help.eyeo.com/en/adblockplus/un ... s?5de59f86, and reinstalling via https://adblockplus.org. Let us know if this helps!
Thanks

Re: Chrome disabling all adblock plugins periodically?
Hi Shannon,
Thanks for all your efforts.
I uninstalled and reinstalled when the problem first occurred.
I just did it again.
I'll see how it goes.
Thanks,
Davoid.
