Element Hiding still works in 3.0.8 RC2

Post by Alan »

It looks like you have a reprieve, Wladimir. Apparently the hurry up security fix version Fx 3.0.8 does not contain the code that breaks element hiding. I just tested it with EasyList on the imdb.com home page.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032609 Firefox/3.0.8

Is this something they backed out of on minefield as well or just for 3.0.8?

I only tested it on 3.0.8 rc2 and Gran Paradiso. It had not been backed out of Gran Paradiso. I assume a special, minimal branch may have been made for this urgent security release. I doubt it's been backed out of Shiretoko or Minefield.

I see - the releases page has been changed two days ago, Firefox 3.0.8 has been moved from April 14th to April 1st. So I guess it is an urgent release for this issue only: http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=3013. And the rest of the changes will come with Firefox 3.0.9 somewhere mid-April. That's certainly a relief...

Alan,

ok, thanks I didn't think it would, and I've manually installed the fix so, I would have had to do a new profile or something to see for myself. :) thanks.. lazy right now I guess.

PS: Yes, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416942 now has the keyword "verified1.9.0.9" - so it's only due in Firefox 3.0.9. I changed the source code: http://hg.mozdev.org/adblockplus/rev/408f411f3bd9

actually, Firefox 3.0.8 was released late afternoon or night of March 27 (or March 28 for those living in the eastern hemisphere); posted sooner than expected.

for the upcoming release of FF 3.0.9, close to middle or late April; I now see a candidate build of FF 3.0.9.
