Blocking YouTube interstitial ads

Post by uberwurst »

I came here to as for help with YouTube ads still showing up despite the latest version of ffx, adblock, and my subscriptions. I checked everything out and realized I only had Fanboy's list. I tried adding Easylist just to see. It worked!

Just in case anyone else stumbles here with a similar question. Enjoying my bullsht-free video viewing, as the internet intended

Link to sample advert link? Some youtube clips won't play without the advert.

How I fixed it was this.
Exception:
http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pa ... deoads.swf

Disabled filters:
||fwmrm.net^$third-party (EasyList English)

Then the videos play without ads. Autoplay and manual.

If I don't do that. Videos will not autoplay. However they do play without ads.

The little yellow marker still shows where the ad is suppose to start. But the ads won't show.

Just add the exception and disable the filter for fwmrm.net^

I reported this issue using the report tool.

Can you please give us the report link?

Also, if you are really subscribed to *every* subscription you could find, one of them might whitelist the youtube ads (which causes them not to be blocked no matter how many other subscriptions would block them). You might wanna consider going with one subscription.

I don't have the report link anymore.

I tried deleting all of the subscriptions except for EasyList English. That didn't work.

The only way I've got ABP working is by making the exception above and disabling that filter for fwmrm.net

I think YouTube changed something. Everything was fine up until two days ago maybe three.

EDIT - As soon as I remove this from the Exception list videos will not autoplay anymore.

Code: Select all

http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/scache/googlevideoads.swf
- It is on Filter von Dr.Evil's list.
The URL above is what creates that little yellow marker below the video progress bar. With it removed by ABP the video refuses to autoplay.

EDIT2 - Apparently fwmrm.net can be re-enabled to block and everything is fine. So it's just that URL above being filtered my Filter von Dr.Evil

You could create a new report, or just give us the link to a video where you see this problem (or is it all of them?).

It happens on all videos set to autoplay.

I suspect YouTube won't allow the video to play unless the ad is shown. So by unblocking that URL i've mentioned it seems to work.

Okay I got rid of all filter subscriptions EXCEPT for EasyList (English) & Fanboy's List (English).

Everything seems to be okay now.

You do not need both EasyList and fanboy's. Your best bet is to choose one.
