Adblock not working

Post by jlmcclure »

I logged on this afternoon and adblock was not working (as it has for several years). I rebooted and it still wasn't working. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and it still isn't working. Solutions?

Lot more info will be needed. What OS you are using, what browser version what version of ABP, what other extensions (add-ons) and as much info as you can give out about your setup and even what ever might have changed lately.

Check to make sure you subscriptions have not disappeared.

Complete list of subscriptions can be found at http://adblockplus.org/en/subscriptions (don't choose any more than necessary and if possible stick to ones created and maintained by the same authors).

same problem here. noticed ab had stopped working yesterday.
tried dis-enable and enable
tried reinstalling
only when I try to manually add a filter I am told that ABP has been disabled
otherwise it says everything is A-OK...

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
firefox 3.6.13
and the latest ABP

any suggestions would be appreciated

I'm noticing the exact same problem here. I hadn't upgraded my browser or made any other changes that might have prompted it. It just all of sudden wasn't working. The icon doesn't appear in my browser, even though AdBlock Plus is showing up in my list of add-ons, and ads are no longer being blocked. I've tried disabling and enabling, installing and installing, restarting my computer -- nothing works.

OS: Windows Vista
Firefox 3.6.13
Other ad-ons:
Zotero
Leechblock
BarTab
Better GReader
Organize Status Bar
Session Manager

Thanks!

Also, if I try to uninstall AdBlock Plus now, it won't leave my list of add-ons after Firefox restarts. If I click Options for ABP on the list of add-ons, the window freezes.

Forgot to post that I'm using ABP 1.33 , Easylist sub (I think, it hangs if I click on "options"), English Language.

So nobody else is experiencing this and/or has a solution?

The solution is to create a new FF profile and see if the issue gets fixed.

Thanks man. That worked like a charm.

Good old firefox.exe -profilemanager and then created a new profile and reinstalled my add-ins.

Another solution is to uninstall and then run a registry cleaner, reboot and re-install.

I had the same problem.

My solution:
Go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions.

It said that I needed to restart Firefox to install Ad-block. Right click on Ad-block on choose Cancel Install.
Now restart Firefox.

Ad-block is installed and it works :)
