What is "Recommended filters for Google Chrome?"

Post by nickr »

Hi everyone :)

I just installed AdBlock Plus. I activated two filter lists: EasyList and EasyPrivacy. I noticed the filter list "Recommended filters for Google Chrome" is ticked. What is this for and can I untick it? or should I leave it ticked?

Basically, it was meant to work around Chrome-specific issues in previous versions of Adblock Plus. There isn't much left in it now, so you can uncheck it if you wish. Please see forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7081 for more information.

is it recommended that we disable it? or should we keep it enabled for now? or does it not matter either way? What is recommended by Wladmir?

Wladimir runs the project but I'm an ABPC developer too :) I'd recommend you leave it enabled for now, though it's not a big deal either way. If we decide that it is no longer needed, we'll probably just remove it entirely in a release.

Right now it is better to keep it. There are still Chrome-specific issues that justify having it around. At some point we will hopefully get rid of it - but when we do that you won't need to do anything.
