ABP 2.2 @ SeaMonkey - deleted custom filters
ABP 2.2 @ SeaMonkey - deleted custom filters
Hello,
last night my ABP was automatically updated and it deleted all my custom filters! WTF? I have backups but cannot use them. I'm being asked if I'm sure that all the filters will be overwritten, I click yes and nothing happens...
Help!

Same problem in Firefox.
Re: ABP 2.2 @ SeaMonkey - deleted custom filters
The same with Iceweasel 10.0.10 on Linux Debian sid. After last update all the filters are gone. Restoring the backup does not work. When adding new filters they are gone when i restart my browser. I am using adblock edge at the moment, that one is working ok.
Re: ABP 2.2 @ SeaMonkey - deleted custom filters
It doesn't seem to affect a lot of users hopefully.
EDIT: If your are not running the latest version of Firefox, update it in the first place.
A fix for ABP (v2.2.1) will also land tomorrow to clear this issue out.
If it still doesn't work and if you want to find your custom filters again:
I hope it works!

If it still doesn't work and if you want to find your custom filters again:
- Go in your adblockplus folder. In order to do so:
1.1 Go in your Firefox profile: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
1.2 Then go into your profile, then in the "adblockplus" folder. - Open your oldest backup, for example patterns-backup5.ini
- Search for url=~user~ (there can be several instances of this term if you had several custom group filters)
- Below the [Subscription filters] that is following you should see your custom filters
- Just copy-paste them in Adblock Plus Filter Preferences in Firefox, or save them at the moment in a text file.
I hope it works!

It seems to affect FF 9 - 13. According to Wladimir ther will be a fix tomorrow (it is already in the dev build).

Re: ABP 2.2 @ SeaMonkey - deleted custom filters
It's 11/23 now, but I'm still having these problems (using FF 12). I've tried all the fixes above and nothing works. What's the point of having ad-blocking software if it doesn't remember my filters? And why should we trust ad-blocking software that cripples its own filters when it updates? It seems to affect FF 9 - 13. According to Wladimir ther will be a fix tomorrow (it is already in the dev build).
Does anyone know when will this be fixed?

Did you update Adblock Plus to version 2.2.1?

Re: ABP 2.2 @ SeaMonkey - deleted custom filters
Thanks -- I just did update to 2.2.1 and it's working. Version 2.2.1 is remembering my filters after I log off Firefox, which wasn't happening this morning. I did have to restore my pre-Nov.-22 filters, though. But once I did this, everything was fine. Thanks again!Did you update Adblock Plus to version 2.2.1?

The new update fixed nothing for me. Still have to install filters every browser session, FF ESR 10.0.11

ABP 2.2.1 works perfectly with SeaMonkey 2.14. Thanks!
