Nope, they can be blocked with an Adblock Plus filter. Not sure what's blocking it in my case, but you can try

Code: Select all

||ytimg.com^$object-subrequest

smed79....thats not what im looking for because i clear all my browsing data everytime i close the browser. Also I dont always sign into my google account.

abuser.... that filter is a too severe. Im using chrome and that filter stops the video frame from loading.... it just remains black. when you right click on the video frame. it say "movie not loaded".
Can you tell me what other custom filters you use on youtube to remove annotations?

Hi, how about this filter? I don't test it enough, so maybe there're room for improvement.

Another fix would be this script: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/13333
You can load ALL video in 720p and of course set always all annotations to OFF. :)

I use it and it works perfectly. Mainly because I wanna watch YT vids always in 1080p. ;)

I've been using ||youtube.com/annotations_ for quite some time now,
thank you for that,

however i noticed my browser stopped playing certain youtube videos lately, the video would not load on all 3 of my systems.
if you have the same issue just try disabling this filter,

this solved the issue for me.

Off to look for an updated filter for those pesky annoyances.

I'm having the same playback issue with this filter.

Any luck finding an alternative?

I think I have found a solution.
First off, ||youtube.com/annotations_ still seems to work for Chrome.

For Firefox I have found this filter to block annotations without blocking the video at the same time:

Code: Select all

||i.ytimg.com/an
When there is a link to a video or another website like Twitch (in the bottom left of the video, opposite the annotation), this filter seems to block it properly:

Code: Select all

||annotationannotation-type-customiv-promo
Please note that I am not an expert at this. So it's very possible that these are still not efficient enough or block too much.
I hope this helps.
