EasyList vs. Fanboy's List
1. EasyList doesn't support adult sites (non-generic rules not allowed). What is often results in a poor ad blocking on these sites.
2. Some adult sites use very aggressive and annoying advertising.
3. Fanboy's List does support adult sites.
4. I assume most of ABP user regularly visit adult sites.
5. EasyList is ABP default subscription.
As long as EasyList does not add a support for adult sites, Fanboy's List might provide a better service for most of ABP user.

Re: EasyList vs. Fanboy's List
I'm not defending easy but you're assuming everyone uses there browser for pr0n browsing. Also the availability of the adult list for any subscription to use.
My subscription started out when my Adult additions were always denied into filterset.g That's why they're default

Re: EasyList vs. Fanboy's List
In the next version of ABP (can be tested in the latest release candidate) it will now choose randomly between EasyList and Fanboy's list. Both will be available for the user to choose.5. EasyList is ABP default subscription.

Re: EasyList vs. Fanboy's List
It is a huge leap to assume that everyone who blocks adverts visits adult websites. There is no direct correlation between the two statistics and I would be delighted to view the evidence that suggests there is.
In addition, and speaking personally, I do not with to assist and encourage people to visit such sites. There is a lot of good material available on the internet; however, adult content does not constitute a part of it.

Re: EasyList vs. Fanboy's List
Well you can still use EasyList together with Fanboy's Adult Blocking list.
Re: EasyList vs. Fanboy's List
The Adult Blocking list is maintained solely for people who do not use the Fanboy main subscription. People who are already using our main subscription have no need for it (it is already incorporated). It presents some unique challenges, maintaining a supplemental subscription for a list you don't use but we do what we can.MonztA wrote:Well you can still use EasyList together with Fanboy's Adult Blocking list.

Re: EasyList vs. Fanboy's List
i think that porn banners tend to be more insidious and insipid than their non-porn brethren. what you're essentially saying is that if a child goes to a website that is otherwise clean, but has porn banners (a torrent site), you'd rather the child view the porn banners. also, say someone uses a computer and views porn, and an ad from a disreputable porn ad server installs spyware that pops up porn ads randomly. then your child uses the computer. In addition, and speaking personally, I do not with to assist and encourage people to visit such sites. There is a lot of good material available on the internet; however, adult content does not constitute a part of it.
this list does not promote porn. it promotes control.
Re: EasyList vs. Fanboy's List
I'd be frankly worried if a parent believes that Adblock Plus can protect their child from adult content on the internet. Items of such a nature appear across the web, not just on domains that serve it, but also in the form of advertisements. Furthermore, the installation of spyware by adverts is an issue that decent anti-virus software should protect against; it is not the job of EasyList to filter all potential malware sources, although the subscription does block advertisements for adult content if they appear where it is not distributed.
Re: EasyList vs. Fanboy's List
I guess I don't understand your objection. List A blocks some ads. List B also blocks some ads, but also blocks some other ads that List A doesn't cover. Who cares about the nature or typical location of the "other ads" ... how does MORE ad blocking promote anything at all? Unless you're saying that people who visit certain websites deserve to see those ads?Michael wrote:I'd be frankly worried if a parent believes that Adblock Plus can protect their child from adult content on the internet. Regardless of your position on adult material, I think your position on the non-inclusion of enhanced blocking features is indefensible.
Re: EasyList vs. Fanboy's List
Guest, you seem to misunderstand. EasyList will block any ads that appear on non-adult sites, even ads that include adult-only content. EasyList does not bother to block ads that appear only on adult sites. EasyList's owner and maintainers have no desire to visit adult-only sites to block ads which appear only there.
If you see any ads appearing on a non-adult site while using EasyList -- including ads for adult-only sites -- please report them so they can be blocked. If you see ads on adult-only sites, then report them to fanboy, either here or in the fanboy forums.

It amazes me that anyone would make such an assumption. Can I make an assumption too? That you're likely a teenager?IsraelList wrote: snip

Re: EasyList vs. Fanboy's List
What does one have that the other don't?? I mean, I'm not great with computers and I don't do 'porn' or their sites etc, so, I don't understand what's being said..I only surf the net for reading and your everything things..Buying or reading..That's about it, so, is EL better then FB??? When I download the ABP, I just choice FB since it seems as thou everyone does, so, was that a mistake! I noticed recently that when I dl stuff*anime/manga* etc, there are ads but not many..Is that normal???
Hm..Does everyone have both or can they????
