Spotify's adblocker detection
Spotify's adblocker detection
Spotify's web application asks users of an adblocker to disable it by saying "For the best Spotify experience, please disable adblock.". This is against EasyList's anti-adblock guide for site admins ("It may suggest disabling adblockers entirely, but if it does, it must also include detailed and easy-to-read instructions to disable them on your domain only.") and should therefore be blocked. The resource it uses to detect adblockers is located at https://play.spotify.edgekey.net/client ... isement.js.

I have already fixed that in EasyList but forgot to reply here: https://hg.adblockplus.org/easylist/rev/f397c63bdd99

Re: Spotify's adblocker detection
Awesome, thanks!
Re: Spotify's adblocker detection
Why do people expect all web admins to comply to these third party policies? If a website admin doesn't want users using ad block to access their site, that's that, what right do these people have telling us what content we can and can not have on our pages?
Re: Spotify's adblocker detection
You don't need to comply with these 'third party policies'. It's more like, if you don't comply, the users trusting adblock plus will also trust their criteria to block your site. It's like politics, but for good.
