(If that's wrong forum, sorry, I thought this place would be the best for this.)
Microsoft has recently announced, that in Windows 8.1, they will introduce built-in Bing Ads. These ads will show up in Bing Search (which is deeply integrated into the system, and you can't just get rid of it, or the ads), Microsoft apps (many of which are preinstalled with the OS), and 3rd party apps. While I can accept ads in FREE 3rd party ads, I simply not agree to use an operating system filled with ads, for which I HAVE TO PAY FOR. This is a joke. I can understand ads in Ubuntu - that's a free OS, they need to make money somehow. But not Windows, for which I have to pay.
This may be really hard to do. But can you investigate a possibility to block ads in Windows 8.1?

Re: AdBlock for Windows 8.1
Hi,
you could use a proxy like squid with the easylist rules to block rules. Or you could http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/ to block the domains direct.
