[Roadmap] Preview for subscription being added

Postby Wladimir Palant » Mon Jun 22, 2009 10:06 am

A suggestion from the Mozilla Russia forum: add a "Preview" link or similar to "Add filter subscription" dialog so that the user can see the filters before adding.

Note: this is low priority because subscriptions can change filters at any time. Still, a preview would be nice to have.

Scheduled for Adblock Plus 1.4, tentatively - might do this as well while subscription management is being redesigned.

Personally I don't see much point in this. The only time I see this being useful is if the user want to check a subscription is of a reasonable quality before subscribing to it but (bare minimum of slow filters & no obvious crazy hides or blocks). Any recommended subscriptions should already tick these boxes and if a user want to subscribe to something other than a recommended subscription then they can copy and paste the subscription URL into their browser manually to check it if they feel the need.

This is mainly meant for minimal subscriptions of this kind: http://lifehacker.com/5542041/block-sit ... block-plus
These could also use data: URLs instead of a physical server.
