Adblock Plus refuses to work on one website

Post by Kieran »

As the thread title says, there is one specific website where ABP just doesn't work for me. I know it's a local problem, because other users of the website have no problems. Basically, all filters seem to be ignored and the list of blockable items is completely empty. Right-clicking on images doesn't give me the "Block image..." option, either. I have made sure that ABP isn't disabled for the website. I tried uninstalling ABP, updating FireFox and then reinstalling ABP, but the problem persists.

Any suggestions?

Open the website in question, send an Adblock Plus issue report (ABP icon -> Report issue on this page...) with as much information as you are comfortable sharing and then post the link here.

When I try to do that, the progress bar gets stuck at about 8/9ths completion. I left it for 10 minutes, but it never finished. The issue reporter seems to have no problems on other pages though.

What is the site we are talking about?

www.smwcentral.net

As I said, though, other users have no problems.

Easiest way to fix this was to block it.. Added to the fanboy subscription..

Code: Select all

||smwcentral.net/html/$image

I'm not talking about that. I merely needed to block out a JS automatically added to the source by some public access point.

Also, I would advise against that filter, because every single site theme other than the default one loads images from that folder.

As I was saying, though, completely refuses to work on that website for me. Even though it works perfectly for other sites.

Just posting some screenshots for the heck of it.

No blockable elements:

No option to block image in context menu:

No disable options checked:

Tooltip stating that ABP is enabled and that there are 0 blockable items:

Issue reporter gets stuck:

Is it possible that your Adblock Plus profile has become corrupted? I would advise renaming the "adblockplus" folder in your profile and visiting the site again after installing a subscription. I think that the reason there have been so few replies is that no-one has encountered an empty list of blockable items previously, and we therefore cannot be very specific in providing assistance.

That did it.

Here's the "corrupted" folder, in case you want to see it. URL REMOVED

I have no idea how it got like that, though.

I removed the link to your profile (it might contain info you don't want shared with the whole internet :D ).

Such as?

The files didn't seem to contain anything personal when I looked them through.

I didn't zip up my ENTIRE profile folder, if that's what you were thinking. Just the adblockplus one.

I assumed you meant your entire profile folder. If you want to re-add the link I have no objections (not sure how helpful it is).
