Greyed Out and Issues

Feel free to point out if this has been addressed as I might have missed the topic. Last year, certain sites began telling me that my adblocker was blocking them when I told ABP not to. I found ABP greyed out when I looked but the sites weren't that important so I was ehh. Now though, it's happening on more sites so I turned it off and all is well which identified ABP as the issue.

So, what am I doing wrong if anything as on these sites that I want to visit I actually don't want ABP to work and adding them to a whitelist doesn't help.

I do promote this to friends and on Facebook and no one's reported any issues to me so I've been thinking it's just me. Is it? Any ideas what may be wrong as I like this add on.

- chrome://extensions => do you have more than 1 ad blocker?
- are you using an ad-blocking DNS service? Could you try using a different DNS service in Chrome?
