Won't uninstall from Chrome

I followed instructions to uninstall Adblock Plus and I still get blocking messages on sites, but now without the ability to whitelist the site since Adblock Plus no longer shows as being installed. So I am now just effectively blocked from sites like Rotten Tomatoes. I've looked for evidence of the install still being there and I don't see it, I've even uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, and I still get the messages asking me to please turn off Adblock Plus on various websites. I saw someone posting about this same problem on Firefox from a few years back but there was never a good solution. Do I have to set my computer on fire? What is going on? Feels like it's acting like a virus if I can't get rid of it. Any idea, anyone?
