Help needed: guide for new subscription authors · 2010-03-12 16:10 by Wladimir Palant

I had to guide a few people through the process of setting up a new filter list recently, this reminded me that documentation for new subscription authors is long overdue. Unfortunately, explaining everything necessary isn’t exactly simple and I don’t have the time to write this document. Which is why I want to ask for your help. I created a Google document where I listed the points that I feel should be mentioned. Maybe there are some more points that I forgot but either way: they need to be fleshed out. Please go to the document and change whatever you are confident with.

This also reminds me of something else: as it is now, people wishing to add a filter subscription to the list send me a mail, I check to see that minimal requirements are met and update the repository. Everything else (like updating the pages on happens automatically. I wouldn’t mind getting this task off my shoulders, would some people volunteer to take it over? Not much involved here: learn some basics about using Mercurial, answer a mail every week or two, maybe check occasionally whether the links are still up to date (subscription maintainers rarely bother sending a mail when they move things).

I’d be willing to help with adding new repos to the list (and checking that existing ones still work)
